470 guns seized at Lagos port, making a total of 2671 seized riffles in 8 months



Nigeria Customs Service has confirmed the seizure of another 470 sophisticated guns at Lagos Port which brings to a total of 2671 rifles seized within the last eight months of this year.
A statement by Colonel Hammed Ali, Comptroller-General, Nigeria Customs Service said importer of the deadly cargo is Great James Oil and Gas Ltd, while the vessel is MV Arkas Africa owned by Hull Blyth.

The new container, in which the 470 rifles was found, belongs to the same importer of the 1,100 rifles seized at the port few days ago.

Following increase in the number of arms seizures in recent times, the Customs Area Controller of Tincan Island Port ordered a detailed profile of all imports, especially those coming from the same source with previous seizures.
