Pregnant Wife Cries Out as Journalist Husband Detained by DSS on Return from Cyprus

The wife of journalist and student activist Lukmon Fasasi has publicly called for his release following his detention by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and immigration officials. Dasola Fasasi, who is six months pregnant, voiced her concern and distress over her husband's unexpected detention and her inability to reach him since the incident.

The family — Lukmon, Dasola, and their first son Khalifa — had been returning from Cyprus on Thursday, December 22, when they were intercepted by immigration and DSS officials. Their passports were seized, and they were held for six hours. Dasola and her son were eventually released, but Lukmon was taken to the DSS office, leaving his family in uncertainty.

Dasola described the ordeal: “My husband is a dedicated journalist and an advocate for students' rights. His detention has left us shattered, especially with me being pregnant. We were simply returning home from Cyprus.” She appealed for support from the public and the relevant authorities to secure her husband’s immediate release.

Efforts to obtain a response from the DSS regarding Lukmon’s detention were unsuccessful at the time of this report, as officials have not yet provided any clarification on the matter.
