President Tinubu has ordered the immediate release of all minors detained and facing legal proceedings for allegedly participating in the #EndBadGovernance protests held nationwide in August.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a press briefing in Abuja on November 4. Idris stated that President Tinubu has also called for an investigation into the law enforcement officers involved in the minors’ arrest, detention, and prosecution, with disciplinary action to follow if any misconduct is found.
Additionally, Tinubu instructed the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction to ensure the minors’ well-being.
This decision follows public outcry after videos surfaced of the minors appearing malnourished and fainting during their court appearance at a High Court in Abuja last Friday.
